Import and export rclone.conf
CloudMount stores your drives in rclone’s own configuration format,
rclone.conf. A configuration made with rclone config on a computer works
in CloudMount, and CloudMount’s export works with rclone.
Import
Section titled “Import”Settings → Configuration → Import configuration (Android) or Settings → Configuration → Import… (Windows), then choose the file.
Both apps check the file the same way and show what will change before anything is applied: drives added, replaced, removed and kept as they are, and any backend types this version of rclone doesn’t know, which block the import. A file the apps can’t import is refused with the same reason on both.
An encrypted file asks for its password first. On Windows that password then encrypts your configuration. On Android the configuration stays encrypted only while app lock is on.
On Android:
- If the file holds one drive, it’s switched on, unless it’s a type that needs Pro and you’re on the free plan. If it holds several, they arrive switched off, so you can choose which to use; on the free plan only one can be on anyway.
- CloudMount’s own per-drive settings (read-only, thumbnails, exposed folder and so on) are reset for drives that were replaced or removed, and sync folders on them are removed. A drive whose only change is a newer sign-in token keeps its sync folders.
- The file can be up to 1 MB.
On Windows, imported drives aren’t shown in File Explorer until you choose Show in File Explorer for each one.
Export
Section titled “Export”Settings → Configuration → Export configuration (Android) or
Export… (Windows) saves an rclone.conf with all your drives. It’s
always a plain, unencrypted file that rclone can read, even if you’ve
encrypted the configuration inside CloudMount. Both apps write it the same
way, so values with quotes, backticks or spaces at either end read back
exactly.
Moving between devices
Section titled “Moving between devices”- Android to Android: Settings → Configuration → Move to another device sends the configuration as a QR code or shared text, encrypted with a one-time code. See Moving to a new phone. Android’s own backup can also bring your drives to a new phone; see System backup.
- Between Android and Windows, or to and from rclone: export on one, copy the file across safely, and import on the other.
Sign-in tokens move with the configuration. Some services tie a token to the device that created it or limit how many can be active, and ask you to sign in again on the new device.
Drive names
Section titled “Drive names”CloudMount’s drive names can use only the letters A to Z, digits, spaces and
. _ - + @, while rclone also allows letters such as é. A name can’t start
or end with a space or -, can’t be . or .., and two drives can’t have
names that differ only in case. On Windows, a name also can’t end with a
dot. Rename such drives in rclone.conf before importing.
